Italian Meatball Sub
INGREDIENTS
Italian Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground veggie meat (we used OmniPork Ground
- 1 tbsp Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp Follow Your Heart Dairy-Free Parmesan Shredded
- 2 tbsp Italian herbs
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- 2 level tbsp Follow Your Heart VeganEgg Powder + ½ cup ice cold water
- 1 tbsp fresh chopped basil leaves
- ¼ crushed chili flake (optional)
Sub:
- 2 French bread rolls
- 15.5oz jar of your favorite marinara sauce
- ½ cup Follow Your Heart Dairy-Free Finely Shredded Mozzarella
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, mix all meatball ingredients together until well-mixed. Using a spoon, make about 12 1.5-inch round meatballs. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and place in oven for 15 minutes. Rotate meatballs and turn pan, return to oven for 10 more minutes. Remove from oven and increase heat in oven to broil
- Heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Add meatballs and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Assemble sandwich by splitting French rolls in half, adding 3 meatballs to sandwich and topping with a sprinkle of cheese.
- Cook sandwiches under broiler for about 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is toasted.
