Almond Crusted Chik’n Wings


Ingredients

Almond Crusted ”Chicken” Ingredients:

  • 1 package vegan chicken strips or scallopini (9 oz), slightly thawed if frozen
  • ¼ cup Follow Your Heart® Vegan Honey Mustard Dressing
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon finely ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon, plus 1 tablespoon neutral tasting oil, for cooking
  • 1/3 cup Almond meal
  • 1 tablespoon un-bleached all purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon finely ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Vegan Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup Follow Your Heart Vegan Honey Mustard Dressing
  • ½ cup Vegenaise®
  • 2 teaspoons fresh basil, finely chopped
  • dash sea salt and black pepper

 

  • ¼ red bell pepper, finely diced for garnish *Optional

Instructions

  1. Place “chicken” in large bowl and add Follow Your Heart Vegan Honey Mustard Dressing basil, sea salt, pepper and teaspoon oil. Set aside to marinate about 15-30 minutes.
  2. In a large shallow bowl, combine almond meal, flour, sea salt, pepper, basil, and garlic powder.  Coat “chicken” in mixture.
  3. Pre-heat a large sauté pan over medium heat and add oil.  Add “chicken” to heated sauté pan. Cook for about 4 minutes on each side, until well browned.
  4. For dipping sauce, combine Follow Your Heart Vegan Honey Mustard Dressing, Vegenaise, basil, sea salt, pepper in a bowl and whisk until uniform.
  5. Serve wings warm with dipping sauce and garnish with basil and red pepper, if desired
